SMP 64: How To Build A Thriving Business With A Positive Mental Attitude

Seb and Josh have a rousing discussion with Michael Morelli of Michael is a successful fitness trainer who has taken social media and the health and fitness world by storm. However it isn’t just great abs and well produced videos that have put Michael on top of the industry. Michael has a terrific story and an infectious positive attitude that earns him followers everyday.

Michael lives in Arizona with his family and dog Bubba. He has been in the fitness industry for 3 years and he is hoping to make a difference in the lives of others.

The story begins that Michael left college with a mere 6  credits away from a degree. He still managed to build a successful retail business that put him to work 80 hours a week. However that daily grind ruined Michael’s health and cost him his first marriage. After a string of bad business decisions, Michael was filing for bankruptcy as well. In the aftermath he was back living with his mother.

He began working out in his home with a change in diet. In 113 days he lost 25 lbs. After his dramatic change Michael realized he could teach others how he managed to get in shape. That was the beginning of Morelli Fit.

Michael and the guys walk the listener through his story and how he managed to get such a huge social network audience. Here are some of his subscriber stats.

He credits Periscope with giving his brand some legitimacy,

“You can’t go ad-lib, face a camera on Periscope if you don’t know sh**. You will be exposed.”

He goes on to say that the key to reaching people is to post the right content at the right time on the right platform.

When Josh asks how he deals with the slow season, Michael lays out a plan.

  • Look at your goal.
  • Look at your resources. What do you have? What do you need?
  • What needs to happen for that goal to be met?
